Hans E. Hageman, Esq.Hans E. Hageman is the Executive Director of Boys and Girls Harbor, a 67–year old multi-service youth organization located in East Harlem and founded by Anthony Drexel Duke. Mr. Hageman is the founder of the Sulaxmi School for Girls in Lucknow, India and co-founder of the Salus Foundation, Inc. He also co-founded the East Harlem School at Exodus House, an independent intermediate school in East Harlem, NY. Mr. Hageman serves as Treasurer of the Board of the Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement, a Board Member of the Harlem Episcopal School, and as an Advisory Member of the Bill Traylor Institute. Mr. Hageman is a former Chief Counsel for the Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem; former Minority Chief Counsel and Staff Director to the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution; and a former Assistant District Attorney in the Office of Special Narcotics Prosecution of New York County’s District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Hageman is a graduate of Columbia University Law School, Princeton University, and Collegiate School for Boys. He is also a graduate of U.S. Army Military Police School and 101st Airmobile Air Assault School and was the youngest group leader in the history of Operation Crossroads Africa. Mr. Hageman is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2001 Essence Award; “Hero Award”-Robin Hood Foundation; Community Service Award-East Harlem Urban Center; Community Service Award-Black Princeton Alumni; Community Service Award-New York Law School; Community Service Award-NYC Council; Venturing Leadership Award-Boy Scouts of America; District Award of Merit-Boy Scouts of America; 40 Under 40 Award-Network Journal. |
