Bernadette Baptiste-Hageman

Bernadette Baptiste-Hageman is the Executive Director and co-founder of the Salus Foundation.  She said “I was delighted to support Hans in establishing the Sulaxmi School for Girls, and to work with him to also establish the Salus Foundation.”

Ms. Hageman is the Foundation’s only full-time volunteer staff, with responsibilities that demand that she wear many hats. She manages the day-to-day operations of the foundation, which includes fundraising the annual operating budget for the Salus Foundation and the Sulaxmi School for Girls.  Ms. Hageman was also directly responsible for acquiring the Salus Foundation’s charitable status and developed the concept for the foundation’s website, brochure and newsletter. 

Ms. Hageman said, “one of my most important responsibilities is to bring awareness to the affects of poverty and illiteracy among girls.”  It is a strong statement when the foundation’s mission is deeply rooted in the meaning of its name (salus-safety, well-being and health). Thanks to our community of supporters, the foundation is working to educate and improve the safety, well-being and health of the students at the Sulaxmi School for Girls.
